Surrey Libraries: the first system on the AI Training Platform.

Surrey wanted individual staff accounts, progress tracking and certificates, not a shared login. ENGR built the hosted platform to meet that bar and cleared the City of Surrey’s privacy review along the way.

The challenge

Surrey Libraries needed AI literacy training that every staff member could take at their own pace, with individual accounts, progress tracking and certificates.

As a BC public body, the library also needed any platform holding staff data to pass a Privacy Impact Assessment with the City of Surrey.

What we built

ENGR set up GenAI Foundations for Library Workers as a hosted course, with single sign-on through Microsoft Entra ID so staff log in with their existing work accounts.

We hosted the platform in Canada, handled learner data under PIPEDA, and gave Surrey a privacy policy, service-level agreement, onboarding materials and a formal service agreement.

Staff reviewed it first

Before rollout, a group of Surrey staff reviewed Module 1 and logged their feedback line by line. ENGR responded to each item and worked the changes into the course.

The result

The Privacy Impact Assessment passed with the City of Surrey, and Surrey is now running the paid pilot. The same setup is ready for any library whose municipality requires a privacy review.
